Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a former number one, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.
His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former coach his previous coach.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.
This marks the player's first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt from March of 2023.
Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the top level was over.
Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an better serving game.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.
Moutet saved 4 early-game chances in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
